BLOGS & PODCASTS
As the world of endodontics changes and progresses, here are some links to information that might be useful to growing your practice or simply keeping up with the latest in our industry. I have also written blogs that might be useful to you.
WHEN IS A REACTION AN OVERREACTION?
Working with so many Endos, my experience is that many of them appear to be easily triggered. The work we do is about precision and as close to perfection as possible. If we’re not careful, however, that same instinct can spill into the rest of our lives. In life, there are triggers that I
THE POVERTY MINDSET & THE ART OF ABUNDANCE
I read a quote the other day that I want to share: "The world belongs to those who let go.” By Lao Tzu It got me to thinking about clients I’ve worked with who can’t let go of fear and anxiety and consistently worry about worst-case scenarios. The whole concept of a glass “half empty
IS YOUR ENDODONTIC PRACTICE IN A RUT?
Connecting with as many Endos as I do, I’ve observed that so many have lost the passion for their profession. They often come to me looking for a magic answer to being as excited as when they started practicing. I don’t have a magic answer but I do have a few thoughts to
Does efficiency just mean working harder?
It’s been my experience, when observing anyone who is particularly efficient at anything, that there is a certain grace, confidence and trust of others involved. Every chef has a sous chef to prep the ingredients so the process of preparing even a complex dinner goes smoothly. Everyone knows their role in that kitchen –
Are you expecting your work to satisfy too many of your needs?
There are those who spend their careers so engaged in their work that it defines their very essence Retired Endodontist, Dr. Robert Fleisher is a wonderful writer who says about retirement “your mind and soul must be ready.” What I say is that the mind and soul needs tending to for all your years. Living
TOOTH NUMBING AS AN ARTFORM – An Interview with Kat Levien
Kat is a dental hygienist who is a specialist in root canal anesthesia at North Sound Root Canal Specialists. We sat down with her to better understand her unique and very successful methods. Q: Why did you decide to become a specialist in numbing patients for root canals. A: For root canals, it is
Micromanaging your staff – Why it’s destructive and how to stop
Theodore Roosevelt once said, “The best executive is one who has sense enough to pick good men (or women) to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.” Employees who feel that they are being micromanaged perform at a much lower level Not only have I
EMPLOYEES NOT MEETING THE MARK? Start with a productive conversation.
Just recently, a client told me he was very unhappy with a staff member but felt he didn’t have the time or patience to address it, let alone let her go. Unfortunately, not addressing these concerns, is like not addressing a diseased tooth. It won’t get better with time unless something is done. So,
Worried about taking time off from your practice? Think the world will fall apart without you?
Many of my Endo2Endo clients have told me they get a feeling of dread at the thought of leaving the office for a week or even a day. They have a hard time enjoying time off because they feel they have so much to lose (income, productive staff time, referrals etc.). I have seen people
GRATITUDE
WANT TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN THE BEST EMPLOYEES? GRATITUDE CREATES LOYALTY Social media does more than attract patients to your practice. It also has the power to tell potential employees what you are like to work for. GlassDoor.com, for instance could discourage your ideal dental assistant from scheduling an interview. That site posts
IS IT TIME TO REEVALUATE YOUR PROFESSIONAL WHY?
When I decided on a career in endodontics many years ago, I have to say that my WHY was to earn a really good income and avoid the strict 9-5 routine. Life being what it is, my thoughts and my WHY have morphed over time into something that resonates much more with me. To be specific,
What can you learn from a FREE 30-minute E2E Introductory phone call with me
I think the first thing you’ll realize is that just scheduling the call says something is not quite right in your practice and you’re open to new possibilities. But you’re not alone. Sad but true, the majority of Endos I have asked to rate their practice satisfaction level from 1 to 10 replied “4 or

What’s the difference between a general dentist and an endodontist?
General dentists are essential practitioners who keep teeth healthy by performing a wide variety of treatments from fillings to crowns to extractions, bridges, cleanings and much more. In the field of dentistry, there are several specialists including cosmetic dentistry, orthodontic services, periodontics, teeth restoration, oral-maxillofacial surgery and much more.
ENDODONTISTS ARE SPECIALISTS IN SAVING TEETH.
Just like a specialized doctor in any other field (heart specialists, oncologists, pediatricians, etc.), endodontists are specialists at diagnosing tooth pain and root canal treatment and other procedures relating to the interior of the tooth. In many cases, a diseased tooth can be saved with endodontic treatment.
ENDODONTISTS MUST COMPLETE MORE TRAINING. Along with two to three years of advanced training beyond dental school, endodontists must have incredible precision and hand-eye coordination, making them highly skilled at performing complex treatments.
ENDODONTISTS DO AN AVERAGE OF 25 ROOT CANAL TREATMENTS A WEEK, WHILE GENERAL DENTISTS TYPICALLY DO 2. Endodontists are skilled specialists in finding the cause of oral and facial pain that has been difficult to diagnosis.
ENDODONTISTS ARE EXPERTS IN PAIN MANAGEMENT AND TREATMENTS THAT ARE LESS INVASIVE. They use specialized techniques to ensure comfort during their treatments AND they are adept at minimizing tooth pain after their root canal procedure when the pulp infection or inflammation heals.
ENDODONTISTS USE CUTTING-EDGE SPECIALTY TECHNOLOGIES. Endodontists use the most advanced materials and equipment designed specifically to treat tooth pain, perform root canal treatment and make the experience more comfortable and successful. Some examples of technology: Digital radiographs and 3-D imaging allow endodontists to take detailed pictures of tiny tooth anatomy to better see the root canals and any related infections. Endodontists use dental operating microscopes to better see inside the root canals to thoroughly treat them.
