JUST HOW IMPORTANT IS TIME OFF?
I read a book recently that seems to supply the answer: John Fitch and Max Frenzal could be speaking directly to Endos with this title: Time Off: A Practical Guide to Building Your Rest Ethic and Finding Success Without Stress. The authors tell us we can discover the transformative power of leisure to recapture

DON’T MARKET YOUR ENDO PRACTICE. BUILD AWARENESS AND REPUTATION
By Joan Fodor, Medical Marketing Strategist If the word “marketing” makes you squirm a little, there’s good reason. You are a healer, “a tooth saver,” not a salesman. And yet, without building awareness in your community, you most likely will not have a vibrant, successful practice. Traditional forms of advertising do not pertain to

HOW EFFICIENT IS YOUR SCHEDULING SYSTEM? Here are my “Top 7 Scheduling Tips”
A TED talk I heard recently that was given by an ER physician made a point that pertains to every endodontist’s office too. “Everybody has to be ready for whatever comes through the door.” But how can we accommodate emergencies efficiently without causing stress, confusion and unproductive hours in the day? Once I tamed
The Efficient Endodontist: Increase Profits, Without Compromising Patient Care
Every endodontist does things a little different. Sure, the procedures are all the same, but it’s up to every endodontist to decide how they want to run their practice. There are only so many approaches to a root canal, but there are infinite ways to handle scheduling, staffing, patient management and general operations. Are
If You’re Not Part of the Steamroller, You’re Part of the Road
No one likes change. It’s difficult to adapt to something unfamiliar and new—especially if you’re comfortable with doing things the way they’ve always been done. But resistance to change means an inability to adapt. Instead of digging in and getting steamrolled, recognize when there’s an opportunity to embrace change and all the benefits that
The Possibilities of Efficiency
What would it look like for you and your practice if you could increase your clinical efficiency? 2 more cases a day? 3 or 4? What would you do with the extra income, time, and energy? Would you take that vacation, buy your dream home or get completely out of debt? Take more time for

THE COST OF AVOIDING CHANGE
Someone asked me a question the other day: “Where do you think endodontics will be in 5 years?” My answer was, “In my opinion, our field is experiencing a major transition and endodontics will be primarily non-instrumented." I’m sure we’ve all heard the buzz surrounding new technology that will compete

What’s the difference between a general dentist and an endodontist?
General dentists are essential practitioners who keep teeth healthy by performing a wide variety of treatments from fillings to crowns to extractions, bridges, cleanings and much more. In the field of dentistry, there are several specialists including cosmetic dentistry, orthodontic services, periodontics, teeth restoration, oral-maxillofacial surgery and much more.
ENDODONTISTS ARE SPECIALISTS IN SAVING TEETH.
Just like a specialized doctor in any other field (heart specialists, oncologists, pediatricians, etc.), endodontists are specialists at diagnosing tooth pain and root canal treatment and other procedures relating to the interior of the tooth. In many cases, a diseased tooth can be saved with endodontic treatment.
ENDODONTISTS MUST COMPLETE MORE TRAINING. Along with two to three years of advanced training beyond dental school, endodontists must have incredible precision and hand-eye coordination, making them highly skilled at performing complex treatments.
ENDODONTISTS DO AN AVERAGE OF 25 ROOT CANAL TREATMENTS A WEEK, WHILE GENERAL DENTISTS TYPICALLY DO 2. Endodontists are skilled specialists in finding the cause of oral and facial pain that has been difficult to diagnosis.
ENDODONTISTS ARE EXPERTS IN PAIN MANAGEMENT AND TREATMENTS THAT ARE LESS INVASIVE. They use specialized techniques to ensure comfort during their treatments AND they are adept at minimizing tooth pain after their root canal procedure when the pulp infection or inflammation heals.
ENDODONTISTS USE CUTTING-EDGE SPECIALTY TECHNOLOGIES. Endodontists use the most advanced materials and equipment designed specifically to treat tooth pain, perform root canal treatment and make the experience more comfortable and successful. Some examples of technology: Digital radiographs and 3-D imaging allow endodontists to take detailed pictures of tiny tooth anatomy to better see the root canals and any related infections. Endodontists use dental operating microscopes to better see inside the root canals to thoroughly treat them.
